It's never too early to start exploring career options.
Students at The Garvey School celebrated their annual 'Career Exploration' day on Thursday. The school introduced the students to the professional world.
The event was designed to help spark the interests of young students. Kids got to ask professionals questions about their jobs via video chat. Some of the students even dressed as pilots, police officers and doctors.
More professional guests were invited to speak in person about their fields, like a Marine and a judge. They shared advice for the students, and educators say they hope the students continue to dream big.
Educators also say they know the students have a strong support system at the school. "I think that we are countering the misconceptions, the narrowness of what they usually see. The idea that they're surrounded by this diverse array of career choices has to have an impact," said Director June O' Connor.
Organizers say it's important to show students real-life example of the careers they could one day pursue.
