A teen is facing charges of attempted rape after students in the Bronx recognized and identified their 17-year-old classmate from surveillance video.

Police say Darren Warren followed a 15-year-old girl inside an apartment building on Hoffman Street. They say once they reached the fifth floor, he threw her to the floor and attempted to rape her. The victim then fought him off before he ran away with her phone.

The incident was caught on surveillance video.

Police say that after seeing the video, fellow students at the Eagle Academy for Young Men identified the suspect when he arrived at school.

NYPD school safety agents then took the suspect into custody and he was arrested.

Warren is facing attempted rape charges. Police also discovered Warren was responsible for a forcible touching incident that occurred last May. They say he grabbed an 11-year-old girl's buttocks while she was exiting the elevator of her building. He is facing charges of sexual abuse for that incident.
