Students from St. Raymond Elementary School witnessed history unfold as they watched Pope Francis address Congress on live television Thursday morning.
The seventh- and eighth-graders watched intently as the pope addressed Congress for the first time.
The students say they learned some very important lessons from the pontiff's speech.
"He tells us to love everyone even if we don't like them, to love them anyway, because God made us equal," says Kaycee Santiago, a student at St. Raymond.
This is just the beginning of what will be a memorable time for some students here. A few students won lottery tickets to see the pope in person on Friday in Central Park.
