Suit filed against Montefiore Hospital over alleged attack
The wife of a man who was found unconscious in a pool of his own blood while at work at Montefiore Hospital has filed a lawsuit.
The family of Seong Soo Kim says he was found clinging to life inside the hospital's mechanical room on October 6, 2014. Kim's wife, who also works at the hospital, claims the incident came after months of racist bullying and harassment by her husband's co-workers.
Kim's wife says she tried to file a police report, but entered into a back-and-forth game between the hospital and the police. The Korean American Parents Association is helping the family with the situation.
"She went to the police to report it and they said go to the security director, and when she went to the security director they said go talk to the police," says Christine Colligan, of the Korean American Parents Association. "And now it's a ping pong game."
Kim is now brain damaged and bedridden after being in a coma and suffering hemorrhages.
Montefiore Hospital officials tell News 12 they conducted a thorough internal investigation and shared findings with the police. Police say the matter is still an active investigation.
