The husband of the 60-year-old man who police say was beaten and killed in a Christmas Eve attack in Morrisania is hoping for justice.
Police say Bayron Caceres and Fresnada were walking along Third Avenue near East 164th Street when they were approached by several men who demanded money from them. After they refused, police say the assailants attacked them before making off with only a dollar.
Surveillance video caught the violent mugging. Police say the video shows Caceres getting thrown to the ground, kicked and punched.
Caceres says Fresnada tried to fend off their attackers to no avail. Fresnada died Friday at Lincoln Hospital after being beaten.
Caceres says not one person stopped to help him and his husband during the attack. He says he hopes police will apprehend his husband's suspected killers off the streets.
"They killed my husband and if they killed him, they might kill somebody else, and I don't want anybody else to have the pain that I’m going through because it's not fair,” says Caceres.
Police are looking for the suspects pictured in the video. They say they are not investigating the incident as a hate crime.
