Suspect in cab driver's slaying appears in court
The man accused of killing a livery cab driver last month appeared in court again Monday.
News 12 previously reported that Nicholas Sanchez had moved back a hearing date after selecting a new attorney. He is accused of second-degree murder in the Sept. 21 shooting death of Mamadou Barry.
Sanchez has maintained his innocence and declined to testify before a grand jury. The grand jury will decide whether prosecutors will move forward with the charges.
Mourners of Barry, including about 100 people from the Guinean community and his widowed wife, packed the courtroom. Barry was originally from Guinea.
