A driver slammed into the front of a Dick’s Sporting Goods in Suffolk County.

The 62-year-old man suffered a medical event while putting his Hyundai pickup truck into reverse, according to police.

The crash happened at the store on Walt Whitman Road in Melville around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A woman who works at the nearby Burlington store tells News 12 a man and his child were nearly struck.

"My manager’s son and grandson almost got hit by him when he was pulling out of the doors,” said Eboni Holliday.

The driver was taken to the hospital but was conscious and alert, Suffolk police say.

The store was closed for an investigation by the Huntington Town Building Department.
