Teacher accused of walking class out of school
A Bronx Catholic school teacher has been fired following allegations that she brought students home without permission.
Dorothy Emer was a third-grade teacher at St. Frances De Chantal School in Throgs Neck. She lives about two-tenths of a mile away, a walk that passes four intersections, including a major one with Termont Avenue.
Parents accuse the teacher of walking her class of more than 30 students to her home so she could grab lunch. She also allegedly left the third-graders standing in the street as she ran inside.
A school representative declined to comment on the incident, citing rules against sharing personnel issues.
