Tenant on leaky roof: 'It was pouring in my house'
A leaky ceiling in a University Heights apartment has one tenant feeling like she's living underwater.
Latrice Howie has been living in her sixth-floor apartment for nine years.
On Jan. 20, she says the ceiling leaked so badly that she and her daughter couldn't empty garbage cans and bins of water fast enough.
"It was raining outside. It was pouring in my house," she says.
Howie says she contacted building management. She says the superintendent did what he could, but she had to take it a step further and contact the city Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
HPD issued a violation and ordered emergency repair work be done at the building owner's expense. Howie says she hopes the work is done soon.
News 12 reached out to the building's owner multiple times but did not hear back.
