Some Bronx tenants and elected officials are calling for the state to investigate two landlords who are accused of attempting to drive residents out of their buildings so they can rent their apartments at a higher price.

Tenants at 1135 Pelham Parkway North claim that needed renovations are all being performed at the same time, which is creating difficult situations. At one point, the building's elevator was inactive and the gas had been shut off during the winter months.

Residents at 3555 Bruckner Blvd. say that they were harassed when they exercised their right to complain about the living conditions they were experiencing.

The complaints prompted the call for New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, the Tenant Harassment Prevention Task Force and the state Department of Housing and Community Renewal to investigate Martin Scharf and Philip Goldfarb.

State Sen. Jeff Klein (D - The Bronx) wants the Tenant Harassment Prevention Task Force to review all of Goldfarb Properties and Abro Management harassment claims filed within the last year. He also is pushing to strip the landlords of any incentives to evict rent-stabilized tenants.
