Threat of storm good for local businesses
Restaurant workers in City Island say the threat of Hermine is good for business.
They say fear about a tropical storm brought travelers home earlier on Labor Day weekend, so residents were eating locally.
The City Island Lobster House was packed with customers on Sunday evening.
"Maybe a lot of people stayed in the staycation, hanging around locally. When they hear tough forecasts and the threat of high winds and rain and a lot of rip currents, it's not worth it," said Jo Jo Mandarino, owner of The City Island Lobster House.
Other residents didn't seem to fear an impending storm.
Some boaters left their crafts in the water, perhaps a sign that Hermine won't cause the devastation of Superstorm Sandy.
