Throgs Neck seniors were showered with holiday cheer Friday at the first intergenerational Holiday Extravaganza hosted by the Throgs Neck Residence Council.
The council and the NYPD Explorers program teamed up to celebrate the holidays with local seniors.
Throgs Neck Residence Council president Monique Johnson says it is the goal of events like these to spread holiday cheer and bring joy to seniors.
“Every year we do something for the seniors to let them know that they are not forgotten,” said Johnson. “A lot of our seniors end up spending the holidays alone.”
Attendees were invited to enjoy free haircuts, manicures, giveaways and participate in a senior dance contest.
