A principal in Throgs Neck is capturing the uniqueness of his students and making them the hero of their own stories.
Students at P.S. 304 say Mr. Galiano is changing the world, one story at a time.
"A few years back I really got into bringing the voices of our children to life and creating books based on things they feel and things that are relevant to them," says Galiano.

He says his students tell him what is going on in their lives, and he then turns the lessons learned into a book.

"One of my passions as well is to illustrate. I’m really into the arts, and I like to draw cartoons; and it’s another mode to be able to express learning,” says Galiano.

Now 10 years and over 50 books later, the process has changed quite a bit, but one thing remains the same

"If the books I created on student experiences are able to give them a lesson I learn really quickly, like let me create that book because there isn't a space for that anywhere else,” says Galiano.

He says he crafts each story in his spare time

"I'm a big believer that nothing that is done for children is wasted time,” says Galiano.

Often times he gives the book as a gift, to keep until the pages are worn and words faded but proving the lessons last.
