Throgs Neck residents want safer intersection
An intersection in Throgs Neck has residents concerned for their safety following multiple accidents.
Neighbors say it's time something is done to make the corner of East Tremont Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard safer for drivers and pedestrians.
They complain that speeding, congestion, poorly timed traffic signals and unclear lane markings all contribute to the problem of frequent accidents, including one a few weeks ago that injured a little boy on a bike.
Last June, the intersection was also the scene of a crash that killed a 26-year-old after he smashed into the guardrail, sending his vehicle flying through the air and landing on the Bruckner Expressway below.
A crossing guard is in place at the corner, and there is a sign telling drivers to slow down, but residents say that's not enough.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Transportation for comment, no has not yet heard back.
