Residents turned out to cast their votes Tuesday at numerous sites throughout the city, including at M.S. 101 in Throgs Neck.
The school sits within City Council District 13. That seat has seen a contentious race leading up to Election Day.
There were waves of voters throughout the night at the school, with quiet periods and sudden rushes.
Residents said they were glad to be exercising their right to vote.
