The 16-month-old girl who was allegedly beaten by her father on Father's Day died Friday morning.
Officials at Maimonides Medical Center say Nylah Lewis suffered massive brain injuries, which left her in a coma.
Police say she was in the care of her 19-year-old father, Shaquan Taylor, when he allegedly beat her unconscious.
Taylor allegedly injured the toddler's mother, Tami, as well.
Charges are expected to be upgraded against Taylor now that his daughter has died.
