TSA to require enhanced licenses for all domestic flights in 2020
Updated drivers’ licenses and identification will soon be required for New Yorkers who wish to get on a domestic flight without a passport.
The TSA is calling it a safety upgrade, which will cost passengers $30 and a trip to the DMV.

The TSA is requiring that by Oct. 1, 2020, New York residents carry an updated or enhanced license in order to get on a domestic flight without a passport. TSA is hoping this will help detect fraudulent IDs and make traveling safer.

The new New York identification will show a star in the upper right corner and an American flag in the left and can get you on any domestic flight. For those who do not wish to upgrade their license, they can still fly, but will require a passport as well.
The deadline for the enhanced id is Oct. 1, 2020.
