An underground explosion in Norwalk caused power outages and closures on Monroe Street between South Main and Chestnut streets Tuesday afternoon.
 The street closures are expected to last until Wednesday morning.
South Norwalk Electric and Water crews are currently on the scene of the explosion.
Officials say they have isolated the issue.
They also say power has been restored to many customers, but they are still working to improve conditions.
Police advise residents to avoid the area and use caution.
