Unemployment rate down in the Bronx
There's good news for Bronx residents who are on the job hunt. The New York State Department of Labor released its latest figures and they show the local unemployment rate is down.
The department's figures show that for the month of March, the rate dropped nearly a full percent. Officials say as a result the Bronx is no longer the borough with the highest unemployment rate.
New developments have opened up new jobs for residents. In addition, the organization Bronx H.I.R.E. and the Bronx Chamber of Commerce have helped place 366 Bronx residents in jobs.
Bronx H.I.R.E. helps residents find employment and also provides them with training and certifications.
