A family from Bay Shore is heartbroken after a party turned to tragedy. Suffolk County police say 19-year-old Sean Mills, of Bay Shore, was fatally shot during a party outside a home on Ackerson Boulevard Friday night.
Sean’s father, James Mills, said he doesn’t know what led up to the shooting.
“He was a good kid and he liked to box and help others,” he said.
The Mills family told News 12 that Sean went to the house party with friends. A social media post about the party said anyone with weapons would be thrown out by security, so he thought he would be safe.
“I don’t know how these kids are getting these guns. I really don’t know,” said Mills.
A neighbor in Brentwood, Michael Gonzalez, said, “Nothing really, usually goes on around on this block, but it was, it was very surprising, especially with the other shootings that’s been happening.”
No one has been arrested in either shooting. News 12 reached out to police to see if there was an update on both shootings and if there was a connection between the two. As of Sunday, police said they had no update.
Police ask anyone with information to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
