Volunteers help to clean, paint Clason Point Gardens in the Bronx
Volunteers gathered in Clason Point Gardens Wednesday to beautify the green space.
About 50 people with Jobs-Plus and Goodwill NYNJ helped paint flower pots, which are built into the ramps throughout the gardens. They also planted new vegetation.
Residents say the ramps and gardens had fallen into disrepair before the facelift.
Organizers say Goodwill NYNJ has operated its Jobs-Plus program since 2013 to offer job training and employment support for the residents of three NYCHA housing developments in Clason Point Gardens.
The event is an effort to give back to the community and help improve the surroundings of the people it helps to serve in the area, organizers say.
In all, the project aimed to revamp around 70 of the flower pots throughout the day.
