Wakefield Library to receive $5.3M renovation
The Wakefield Library in the Bronx will receive a $5.3 million renovation, city officials announced Friday.
Library officials say they have been asking for financial assistance for a renovation from the city and finally got approval this week.
Improvements at the library include a plan to make it more accessible for those with mobility issues, new flooring and ceiling upgrades and upgraded heating and air conditioner systems.
Staff at the library say they hope all of the improvements will encourage the community to continue to visit the library.
A starting date for the renovations has not been scheduled yet and the library says it will remain open at its normal hours.
