A group of New York City students are stepping off the concrete and embracing nature for a summer internship at Wave Hill.
The Forest Project at the public garden has 28 students enrolled. All summer long, they've been working to take care of the 80-acre forest in Riverdale.
The interns learn about environmental issues, remove invasive species from the marsh and forest as well as restore individual sections by fixing up trails and preventing erosion.
Some of the students returned for their second year. The students were selected through the NYC Summer Youth Program.
