Williamsbridge mom gets healthy with help from Oprah
A Williamsbridge mom looking to make a healthy change in her life recently got a little help from Oprah.
Shaniqua Garvin lost her husband due to his declining health. That's when she decided it was time to get fit and change her life.
At the suggestion of a friend, Garvin submitted an open casting call for inspirational women on a weight loss journey to Oprah's 'O Magazine.' Garvin says next thing she knew she was selected and appearing for a cover shoot with Oprah herself.
She says the experience has been amazing. Garvin has lost weight and is no longer pre-diabetic. She says she wants to be healthy so that she will be around for her son.
Garvin's cover story is in 'O Magazine' is on stands now.
