Wimee The Robot made a surprise visit during story time at the Soundview Library on Monday.

Michael Hyacinthe, creator of Wimee and a veteran, also made an appearance and joined Council Member Amanda Farias to read “Wimee Creates With Vehicles and Colors” aloud, hoping to offer children some creative insight.

"When I got out [of the military], I always wanted to figure out a way to give back and so I created the character Wimee. He's a robot who inspires kids to use their imagination, to be creative, to be story tellers, and I'm happy to say now we're on PBS in 50 million homes around the country," said Hyacinthe.

"To have the mascot here, Wimee here, in person – it’s really just about showing them that what they can think about and what they can read and what they see on TV can actually come into fruition in real-time in real life," said Council Member Farias.

Next up, financial literacy! A new book where Wimee will teach kids how to earn, save and give. It is set to be released in January and is already out for pre-order.
