Yankees' Sabathia doles out backpacks to kids
New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia doled out more than 100 backpacks full of school supplies Wednesday to students at P.S. 94. in Norwood
It was on behalf of Major League Baseball's Pitch In Foundation, which filled the bags with notebooks, pads and other gear students need to prepare for the start of school.
This was Sabathia's first visit to the Bronx school, and many in attendance said they were excited to meet the future Hall of Famer.
The Yankee initially became involved in the program in his hometown, but then he moved on to many others.
Organizers say more than 30,000 backpacks have been given out to children around the country this year.
