A car crashed into the front yard of a Paulding Avenue day care center Thursday, sending one person to Jacobi Medical Center in serious condition, officials say.

It happened around 11:12 p.m. near E. 229th Street.

Tamieka Smallhorn, who runs the day care, said she was thankful there were no children playing outside at the time.

"We are just praying everything is fine with her," she said of the driver.

The victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening.
