It’s been one year since Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was gunned down on the West Coast.
Pop Smoke grew up in Canarsie but was killed in Los Angeles. Hundreds gathered to remember him Friday night.
Pop Smoke’s music was playing and people tried to remember the good times while paying their respects.
Blue balloons were released in the air followed by a moment of silence.
The 20-year-old rising rapper, whose real name was Bashar Jackson, was killed during a home invasion robbery last year while living the in Hollywood hills in California.
Five people were arrested in connection to his death.
Many in his hometown community say his success was an inspiration.
