More than 100 firefighters responded to a fire at an abandoned building in East Tremont.
The flames erupted around 8 a.m. on 180 Street.
FDNY officials say no one was hurt and that the building has been abandoned for some time.
It did, however, take firefighters a significant amount of time to extinguish the flames.
News 12 is told that it took firefighters more than an hour after arriving to get the fire under control. Fire officials tell News 12 it took 106 firefighters to shut down the fire, adding that part of the building, which had been abandoned, collapsed, and that firefighters would be there even longer trying to extinguish any hidden pockets of fire.

No word yet what caused the fire.
