Police say more than a dozen people were injured in a crash Wednesday night involving a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus and a garbage truck in Hunts Point.
The incident happened just after 9 p.m. on the Bruckner Boulevard and Hunts Point Avenue.
Authorities say the sanitation truck and the BX6 hit each other head on, causing some passengers to be hospitalized. Police say five of them were transported to Lincoln Hospital and seven were taken to St. Barnabas with non-life-threatening injuries.
"Me and my friends were chilling and next thing you know, the bus collided with the garbage truck, and I hit my head my friend flies all the way down," said one passenger who stayed on the scene following the crash.
