Police are ramping up their manhunt efforts with drones and dozens of officers as they search for a man who lured a teenage girl in Edenwald.

The 14-year-old girl was on her way to school when a man lured her into a secluded area and performed a sexual act in front of her.

He then ran away.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Thursday near East 233rd Street and Wilder Avenue as the girl was passing Seton Falls Park.

The area is often used as a cut-through for children on their way to school, and now parents and neighbors are on high alert.

"It's very scary I have an 8-year-old, 5-year-old and 2-year-old, and crazy people don't care about age," Philip Asamoah-Bomas said. "It's hard, very scary"

"I just hope they get this guy off the street cause you got kids that walk, that go to school, there's a library, there's kids in there now," Don, an Edenwald resident said. "I just hope they get this guy off the street."

Police say the girl was not physically injured.

They describe the man as bald and heavy-set, wearing all black.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
