14 indicted in multi-state drug ring out of the Bronx
Fourteen people have been indicted in connection with a multi-state heroin and fentanyl trafficking ring, the Bronx District Attorney's office announced Thursday.
Officials say 14 people were indicted for trafficking the drugs in the Bronx, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia.
The narcotics came from Mexico and were trucked cross-country to the Bronx, where one of the main defendants, Ramon Walters, 42, allegedly sold large quantities out of his Lurting Avenue, Bronx home on a residential street to dealers who sold it in the Bronx and down the East Coast, according to court documents.
Police say Walters was flushing drugs down the toilet when officers executed their search warrant at his home on Wednesday.
In total, police seized $10,000 from his home and 5 kilos of heroin found inside the trunk of two cars attached to a car carrier.
Police say the drugs have a street value of $300,400.
Of the 14 suspects arrested, 10 of them are from the Bronx.
