Two people were sent to the hospital after a stabbing in Manhattan led to shots being fired by an off-duty NYPD officer, police say.
According to officials, the incident occurred at 7 a.m. near the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and West 94th Street on the upper west side.
After witnessing one man stab another, the off-duty officer tried to apprehend that suspect. Shots were fired when the suspect allegedly lunged at the off-duty officer with a knife. The suspect was hit in the hip and arm.
The suspect and the man that was stabbed during the original dispute were both taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The officer was not injured, however, they were still taken to the hospital for evaluation.
