A grand jury found enough evidence to indict two Bronx men on new charges connected to a deadly house explosion in Kingsbridge in September.
Garivaldi Castillo and Julio Salcedo were indicted on six additional charges of assault in the second degree. They pleaded not guilty to the new charges handed down by the grand jury.
The men are believed to be linked to a deadly gas explosion that killed FDNY Deputy Chief Michael Fahy. Police say the two men were operating a marijuana grow house and tampered with and hooked up illegal gas lines inside the West 234th Street home to fuel their operation.
Salcedo, who police say fled the location before the deadly blast, is the main suspect in the case. Prosecutors are considering a manslaughter or murder charge against the 34-year-old pending the results of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The six assault charges are related to six other firefighters who were hurt in the blast. Both defendants are due back in court Jan. 9.
