An air quality alert is in effect for New York City through 12 a.m. on Sunday. The current air quality is "unhealthy" for everyone. Air quality tomorrow is expected to be "unhealthy for sensitive groups,” so a mask for the elderly and those with pre-existing respiratory conditions is beneficial if needing to be outside. For most others, it’s recommended to have a mask if you’re out and about more than 15 minutes.
TODAY: Hazy and humid. Mostly sunny and very warm. Highs up to 85. Feels like 90. Smoky sky from wildfire smoke. Lows down to 69.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny with lingering smoke. Improving air quality but still unhealthy for sensitive groups. Highs near 83. Lows around 70.
SUNDAY - WEATHER TO WATCH: Mostly cloudy with scattered thunderstorms, especially after noon. While not a washout, outdoor activities are not the best idea. Highs near 82. Lows around 68.
