The 28th annual Panamanian Day Parade was delayed for more than two hours Saturday due to rain showers, but that didn’t stop revelers from enjoying the festivities.

Dozens of people gathered in Crown Heights to celebrate Panamanian independence. The parade included music, floats and gave people a chance to enjoy traditions through a vibrant display of unity and pride.

Organizers say this celebration highlights Panama’s diversity.

“We want to show our culture,” says Maria Willis, vice president of the Day of Independence Committee. “We want to diffuse our culture, language, our customs to everyone here in Brooklyn.”
