City reveals new drones to help drowning swimmers in NYC beaches
The mayor says the technology will first be used at Coney Island and expand from there.

New details are out about the city's efforts to keep New York City residents safe at the beach this summer.
Mayor Eric Adams confirms drones will be used to drop inflatable rafts to swimmers in trouble. He says the NYPD will give a full presentation on how it works soon. The mayor says the technology will first be used at Coney Island and expand from there.
There are also some promising news about the lifeguard shortage the city experienced last summer that forced some pools and beaches to close at times.
Deputy Mayor of Operations Meera Joshi says the city has more lifeguards signed up than it did at this time last year. There's still time to sign up and take the next test for those interested as well. Click here for more information.
