Beeping egg hunt in Williamsbridge allows visually impaired students to enjoy spring pastime

Students at the Lavelle School for the Blind were treated to an egg hunt - specifically crafted just for them.
The eggs, which are built by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), provide an inclusive experience for blind students at the school.
The event was coordinated by Rev. Dr. Holly Bonner, who is a blind mother of two girls.
Dr. Bonner brought the beeping egg hunt to NYC in 2017 prior to introducing the event at the Lavelle School for the Blind in 2019.
She remembers how hard egg hunts were for her with her children as a mother who is visually impaired.
She worked with the ATF and the NYPD to make this hunt happen. According to her, the purpose of the event is for kids to have fun and build a positive relationship with police.
Children participating in the hunt also got their faces painted and enjoyed a magic performance by a magician.
Dr. Bonner says she plans to bring the beeping egg hunt to additional schools and organizations in the future.
