Explore Jewish culture and history at the Derfner Judaica Museum and sculpture garden in Riverdale

Right along the Hudson River with a scenic backdrop of the Palisades sits the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, a site that's more than just a nursing home.
Inside the hidden gem is the Derfner Judaica Museum and its sculpture garden collection.
"We invite visitors here to learn about Jewish culture and learn about the different lands that Jews have lived in throughout the world," says Susan Chevlowe, chief curator of Hebrew Home at Riverdale. "We also have many cases that will show people the different kinds of objects that are used in the home or in synagogue during the Jewish holidays."
The Hebrew Home at Riverdale also houses the borough's only sculpture garden.
"Many of the sculptures are steel or aluminum, which was a material that was of special interest to contemporary artists," says Chevlowe.
Chevlowe adds the spring season is a wonderful time to visit thanks to the beautiful floral scenery of the area, making it a perfect addition to your bucket list.
