A Greenwich man was sentenced Monday to ten years in prison for running an illegal gambling ring involving rooster fights, Cumberland County prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced.

Jimmy Hadden, 50, was arrested in 2021 for the incident and charged with several counts of CDS possession and distribution related offenses as well as promotion of gambling and weapons offenses. According to Webb-McRae, Hadden and his father Jaime Ferrer ran the illegal gambling ring together.

During an investigation, authorities say Hadden sold CDS methamphetamine to an undercover officer. The investigation led to the seizure of $180,000 as well as over a pound of methamphetamine.

Hadden pled guilty on May 20 to first degree possession with intent to distribute CDS and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was sentenced Monday to 10 years in state prison. Authorities say Hadden also agreed to forfeit the seized money as well as a 2007 Chevy Tahoe.

Ferrer was also charged and indicted but died before his case could be resolved.
