Trumbull police are investigating a smash and grab robbery at a jewelry store.

Police say thieves stole several thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry at Saba Jewelers in the mall on Sunday afternoon.

Trumbull police posted images on their Facebook page.

They say three suspects used hammers to smash a glass display case and then grabbed the jewelry before running from the mall to a waiting dark-colored sport utility vehicle that was toward the Main Street exit.

Police say they were called after shoppers and employees heard the loud noise of smashing glass about 3 p.m.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department at (203) 261-3665.

Tips can also be sent anonymously through the Citizen Observer/tip411 by texting the keyword TRUMBULLPD and the tip to 847411.
