Firefighters responded to reports of a smoking and burning manhole next to an elementary school early Friday afternoon in Mount Eden.
They say it happened on Walton Avenue just before 12:30 p.m.

Con Edison says it dispatched crews quickly to the scene and blocked off the two manholes between Walton and Townsend avenues.
The emergency repair work happened next to P.S. 294 and the Lucero Elementary School, according to fire officials.
They say no one was injured.
Con Edison added that there were no reports of outages.
The utility says crews are working to determine the cause of the incident and make repairs as soon as possible.
