A teenager was killed in an accident involving a log splitter at a South Salem home.

State police say 18-year-old Brandon Gmelin died after the machine rolled down a slope and hit him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened Wednesday.

Investigators say the teen from Connecticut was trying to move the log splitter.

No signs of foul play are suspected at this time.
