Good Samaritans rescue driver after car plunges over 10-foot wall in Allerton
Police say the man is in his 80s and thought the car was in reverse while trying to park but drive it was in drive.

A car veered off a 10-foot wall and landed on a sidewalk Friday in Allerton, prompting bystanders to rush to the scene and pull the driver to safety.
One of those bystanders, Anthony Ramos, was taking out his trash when he heard a loud crash.
He ran to the scene and found the vehicle nearly vertical with an older man still inside.
"I saw the car had just come down, and I just ran across," Ramos said. "I heard it was still going. I saw somebody in the car and he was frantic, an older gentleman."
Police say the man is in his 80s and thought the car was in reverse while trying to park but drive it was in drive.
When he pressed the gas and the car plummeted down 10 feet.
"He was definitely scared, and he looked like he had no idea what had just happened to him," Ramos said.
Ramos was soon joined by another good Samaritan, Kawalijit Singh, who offered the driver bottled water and stayed with him until emergency responders arrived.
"Yeah, he's bleeding. I gave him my water, my bottled water," Singh said.
When asked if he considered himself a hero, Singh was modest.
"No, just trying to help that's it," he said.
Both men downplayed their actions but said they hope others would do the same in a similar situation.
"Anybody would want someone to help them in that kind of situation," Ramos said. "You want someone to help you quickly."
The driver was taken to the hospital. He is expected to recover.
