Wake services held for Bronx firefighter killed in hit-and-run

According to police, he fell off his motorcycle while driving on the FDR Drive. He was then hit by a car that did not stop and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The wake for Matthew Goicochea was held at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home in Throgs Neck Thursday night.

Members of the FDNY came to honor the 31-year-old.

“A lot of people were there paying their respects and honoring the firefighters here," said Indra, a Bronx resident.

Goicochea was the victim of a hit-and-run last Thursday. According to police, he fell off his motorcycle while driving on the FDR Drive. He was then hit by a car that did not stop and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday in Queens.
