Members of CSEA, the union representing Village of Spring Valley employees are demanding a fair contract They say it's been years since they've seen pay increases and, they are struggling to get by.

Dozens rallied in front of village hall Wednesday evening.

"It's a shame, these employees are due for a fair contract. We want what's fair," says Jonathan Gonzalez, who is the Village of Spring Valley CSEA Unit president.

Gonzalez is part of the CSEA, the union that represents these employees. He also works for the village.

He says they've been working without a contract for more than seven years.

Officials with the union say throughout that time, there has been a legal back-and-forth with the village.

But so far they tell us, they haven't had luck getting paid more.

That's not all they are concerned about.

"We don't have enough employees to cover the increasing amount of residents who are coming in. We have outdated equipment," Gonzalez tells News 12.

News 12 went to the mayor's office Wednesday afternoon for comment, but was told, he wasn't in.

News 12 also emailed him and others with the village but have yet to get a response.
