Bernadette Thomas has relied on her parking spot right outside of her NYCHA building in Castle Hill for years. It's a spot she says she paid for and depends on because of her disability.

She received an unexpected email from NYCHA last week, telling her she can no longer park there, and if she does, her car can get towed.

Thomas says she reached out to NYCHA and the parking lot management, but neither have come back to her with any solution or explanation.

She says parking her car in the lot is a risk she is willing to take.

"I have to rely on street parking, but I'm not parking in the street based on the fact that I can't get up every day and move my car, so I'm taking a chance actually," says Thomas

NYCHA issued a statement to News 12, saying, "One of the eight parking lots at Castle Hill Houses is now reserved for NYCHA employee parking. Since parking spaces at Castle Hill are non-reserved, residents are welcome to park at any of the seven other parking lots on the campus. Residents may also request to have their parking permit fee refunded."
