NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani addressed President Donald Trump's comments on a potential meeting Monday.

Mamdani visited the "Part of the Solution," or POTS, in the Bronx.

POTS is the leading provider of emergency food in the Bronx.

Mamdani served hot food to New Yorkers in need. He addressed accessibility and affordability in the boroughs, highlighting the importance of SNAP benefits.

"While organizations, like Catholic Charities and POTS, have been doing incredible work, we need to deliver a City Hall that will work with them and also work to protect New Yorkers from a federal administration that would rather starve the people of this city than serve the people of this city," said Mamdani.

On Sunday, President Trump said he would consider meeting Mamdani. He said they'll "work something out".

Mamdani responded to those comments saying, "My team reached out to the White House to fulfill a commitment I made to New Yorkers over the course of this campaign. A commitment to the willingness to meet with anyone, and everyone, so long as it is to the benefit of the 8.5 million people that call New York home."

Trump expressed his opinion of the candidates for NYC mayor throughout the campaign. The president called Mamdani a "communist" and threatened to pull funding from the city if he was elected.
