The nurse’s strike at three major New York City hospital systems entered its sixth day on Saturday.

The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) released a statement saying they have met with NewYork-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai and Mount Sinai on Thursday and Friday, but no agreement has been made.

The statement provided responses to statements released by the hospitals this week, including NewYork Presbyterian statement that "the unions proposal remain unreasonable."

NYSNA doubled down on their proposal by saying "If you think maintaining healthcare benefits for your healthcare workers, providing enough staff so that patients can be safely cared for, and providing protections against workplace violence is unreasonable, then sure we're unreasonable."

Earlier this week, Mount Sinai Chief Executive Officer Brendan Carr shared in an email,  "I have been made aware that NYSNA is bullying and intimidating our nurses who have come to work."

NYSNA responded on Saturday to the claims by Carr in a statement that says, “Mount Sinai’s documented bullying, intimidation and harassment of over a dozen frontline nurses leading up to the strike demonstrates a failure of leadership. We urge CEO Dr. Carr to stop the baseless accusations and come back to the bargaining table to settle a fair contract with the nurses who are the backbone of Mount Sinai Hospital.”

The union also thanked a number a officials who joined their picket lines this past week, and said the strikes will continue through the weekend.

News 12 reached out to the hospital systems about the ongoing strike but had not heard back as of Saturday night.
