The Greenwich Japanese School has found a unique way to honor its 50th anniversary.

A cherry blossom tree that was donated by the Japanese Society of Fairfield County was planted on school grounds Friday.

Principal Keisaku Morimoto says the planting also commemorates America's 250th birthday.

He adds that they are grateful for the donation because the cherry blossom is a symbol of Japan.
